Brock Purdy becomes NFL’s highest-rated passer as 49ers win sixth straight

·

Brock Purdy became the highest-rated quarterback in NFL history as the San Francisco 49ers stayed unbeaten after six games with a 23-17 Monday night win over the Washington Commanders, The Guardian reports.

Purdy completed 21 of 29 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown. Passing the 1,500-attempt threshold needed to qualify, his career rating of 105.6 moved ahead of Lamar Jackson's 102.7. Christian McCaffrey ran for two touchdowns as San Francisco built a 20-point lead.

Jayden Daniels threw two second-half touchdown passes to bring Washington within six, but the 49ers' defence made two late stops, including a fourth-down pass break-up near the goal line. Receiver Mike Evans left the game with an achilles injury. It is San Francisco's best start since 2019, when they won their first eight games and reached the Super Bowl.
