Kerala police have registered a case against social media influencer Amrit Singh Darren on a charge of promoting enmity between religious communities, The Hindu reports.
The case concerns an Instagram video in which he targeted Muslims in Kochi and accused the state's Congress-led United Democratic Front government of accepting money from Arab countries to promote Islam. He also criticised Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and said the central government needed to step in. In the video he objected to a portrait of Pakistan's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, shown alongside Mahatma Gandhi at a cafe in Fort Kochi.
Another influencer, Diya Krishna, drew criticism for a comment under the post. She later said her remark referred only to the opening part of the video.
