Lula offers to open his bank and phone records and challenges Flávio Bolsonaro to match

·

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will authorise the courts to open his bank and phone records, and those of his relatives, his campaign said on Monday, The Rio Times reports, citing CNN Brasil.

Campaign spokesman Camilo Santana said the authorisation would go to the heads of the electoral court and the Supreme Federal Court, and challenged Lula's run-off rival, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, to do the same. In a video, Lula said he would cover himself and his children if Flávio did likewise for his parents and brothers, and gave him a week to respond.

Lula first raised the idea in Sunday's televised debate, in which the two traded corruption allegations. The reports do not say that any court has acted on the offer. Brazilians vote in the run-off on 25 October.
