A teacher wounded in last week's shooting at an Oregon primary school has said she was shot before she could do anything and survived by pretending to be dead, CBS News reports.
In a statement on Wednesday, Becky Drury, 54, said she went to see what was happening outside her classroom at Silver Rail Elementary School and was shot at close range as she tried to close the door. She said one hand was almost severed and she could not get up, so she lay still hoping the gunman would not fire again.
The 15 October attack killed three children and a 25-year-old teacher and seriously wounded a seven-year-old. Police say the 16-year-old suspect, a former pupil, was shot dead by an armed bystander. Ms Drury said she spoke out because of contradictory reports about her actions that day.
