Haiti will host the United States in Miami rather than Kingston, Jamaica, for the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final on 14 November, after Concacaf agreed to the Haitian federation's request, The Guardian reports.
Haiti has not played home matches on its own soil since July 2021, and the UN estimates that gangs control about 90 per cent of Port-au-Prince, including the national stadium. The team's two qualifiers at Kingston's Sabina Park drew an average of fewer than 300 fans, while Miami has the largest Haitian community in the US.
The match will be played at Nu Stadium. Concacaf said Haiti and Haitian clubs could ask to play in their opponents' territory, case by case, while the security situation lasts, but that the arrangement could be changed or withdrawn at any time.
