Elon Musk has committed about $366m to the 2026 US election cycle across at least 40 races, making him the biggest individual donor of the midterms so far, according to a CNBC analysis of Federal Election Commission filings.
At least $276m has gone to Republican groups and his America PAC since July, including about $189.6m aimed at electing Ken Paxton to the Senate in Texas. CNBC notes that SpaceX has won $6.78bn of federal work this year, according to the research firm FedScout, almost twice its 2024 total.
Musk's companies, including SpaceX's AI division, formerly xAI, face government decisions on launches, spectrum, autonomous vehicles and data centres. Democratic control of Congress could bring investigations. Musk did not respond to CNBC, but posted on X warning those who pick fights with him.
