PSG v Lyon postponed over Paris protests, so Dembele will miss Ballon d’Or night

·

Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 match against Lyon has been moved from Sunday to Monday evening after police banned it going ahead during a weekend of expected protests in the French capital, Al Jazeera reports.

The French league said it had noted the police order and rescheduled the game. The change means the holder, Ousmane Dembele, and several PSG team-mates on the shortlist will miss Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony in London.

France is preparing a large security operation for demonstrations planned on Saturday, with troops supporting police, after rioting and looting in Paris and other cities on 17 October. An NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints is also due at the Stade de France on Sunday, and Toulouse's home match with Troyes has already been put back a day.
